Each view has different settings that you can view and edit from the View Settings area, allowing you to customize how you view and share your data. Your view settings are at the top of your workbook.
Table View
Grouped By
Both Table and Gantt views allow you to use a "Grouped By" feature, which we released in February 2025. Similar to swimlanes in our Board view, this feature makes it easy to group data into different sections based on the unique values inside a field.
To access this feature, simply click on "Grouped By" and then select the field you'd like your data organized around. We currently allow you to choose one field for this feature and the field must have dropdown selections.
Deselecting Field Options + Undoing Selections
Once you select a field in "Grouped By", you can select all or just some of the field choices. If you choose to group just some of the field choices, other records will be hidden in your Table.
You can always deselect a field in the "Grouped By" selector, making your data appear as it originally did. Simply click on "no field" in the Grouped By selector.
Levels shown
"Levels shown" shows you how many of your nested levels are currently visible. For example, if you only have the top-most level visible (think the Epic or Initiative level in Jira or your main project/task when using Visor custom data) you will see the primary column name listed. When you expand this view to include child issues and nested issues, you will see how many levels of your data are currently shown.
Filters
The "Filters" area of View Settings allows you to see how many filters are applied to your view. When no filters are applied, you will see "None applied." If one filter is applied, you will see the column header displayed. If more than one filter is applied, you will see the total count of active filters in this area.
Rows displayed
"Rows displayed" shows you how many records are displayed based on your current configuration. For example, if you have 95 records total, but you apply a filter, you will see the first number decrease. Similarly, if you have many nested records and you collapse your view to show only the highest level records, you will see this area change as well. Clicking on "Rows displayed" will provide you with an explanation of which functions are hiding certain rows from the view.
Gantt and Timeline View
In addition to "Levels shown," "Filters," "Grouped By" and "Rows displayed" (which we covered in the Table view section above), Gantt and Timeline views offer a few more view settings options:
- Zoom
- Bars plotted
- Bar colors
Gantt and Timeline share all the same view settings options -- except for one. We'll start there.
[Gantt-Only Feature]: Grouped By
Before we go into all the options that both Gantt + Timeline have, it's worth pointing out that the Gantt (and not Timeline) view allows you to use a "Grouped By" feature. This "Grouped By" feature is available ONLY in Gantt and Table views.
Similar to swimlanes in our Board view, this feature makes it easy to group data into different sections based on the unique values inside a field.
Below you can see an example of a Gantt view that is grouped by a field. We also have a red circle around where you can find the "Grouped By" feature in view settings.
Watch the tutorial at the top of this article (in the Table view area) to see this feature in action.
Date fields
The "Date fields" area of your View Settings allows you to see which date fields you are currently using to plot your data. Clicking on the Date fields area opens up the configuration window, allowing you to change which fields you are using to plot your data.
Zoom
The "Zoom" area shows you which increments of time you are using to plot your data. Clicking on this are allows you to select a timeframe from the following options: Weeks and Days, Sprints and Days, Months and Days, Months and Weeks, Quarters and Weeks, Quarters and Months, Years and Months.
Bar Colors and Bars Plotted
These informational sections will tell you what filed is color-coded in your Gantt and Timeline charts, along with how many bars appear in your chart views.
Board View
Board View also has areas for "Levels shown," "Filters," and plotted data ("Cards plotted") available in View Settings. It also has two additional areas: "Columns" and "Lanes."
Columns
"Columns" shows you which field you are using to vertically sort your data. Clicking on "Columns" brings you to the configuration window and allows you to change which field you are using as your column headers.
Lanes
"Lanes" shows you which field you are using to horizontally sort your data. Clicking on "Lanes" brings you to the configuration window and allows you to change which field you are using as your row headers.
