Overview
Visor allows you to add and manage as many fields as you need. Whether you’re adding custom Visor fields, or linking fields from connected apps, we’ve got you covered.
In this article, we’ll take a look at the various field types that are supported in Visor.
Custom Visor field types
Custom fields are displayed in workbooks with a small Visor logo on the left side of the column header.
In this section, we’ll focus on all the different field types supported in Visor:
Plain Text
This field type is commonly used and allows you to input any character in a freeform text area, without character count limits. Plain text fields can be sorted.
Dropdown
This field type is most used for applying and organizing repeatable, discreet attributes. When adding this field, you can configure it to allow single or multiple selections, and can optionally define its choices (which can be modified later). There is no character count limit. Dropdown fields can be sorted, formatted, and filtered.
Date
This field type is used for setting (individual or multiple) dates for records. The Gantt and Timeline views require at least two date fields to plot records in their canvas sections. You can use the date picker to select a date, or manually enter dates in within the text field. Multiple date formats are supported (ie: “November 17, 2022” or “11/17/22”). Only valid date characters are accepted. Date fields can be sorted.
Date / Time
This field type is used for setting (individual or multiple) dates & times for records. Please note that the Gantt and Timeline views do not yet support this field type in plotting records in their canvas sections. You can use the date / time picker to select a date / time, or manually enter date / times in within the text field. Multiple date / time formats are supported (ie: “November 17, 2022 4:37 PM” or “11/17/22 18:56”). Only valid date characters are accepted. Date / Time fields can be sorted.
Time
This field type is used for setting (individual or multiple) times for records. Please note that the Gantt and Timeline views do not yet support this field type in plotting records in their canvas sections. You can use the time picker to select a time, or manually enter times in within the text field. Multiple time formats are supported (ie: “4:37 PM” or “18:56”). Only valid date characters are accepted. Time fields can be sorted.
Number
This field type is commonly used and allows you to input any number, as well as “-” and “.” symbols in a freeform text area, without character count limits. Number fields can be sorted.
Connected fields
In addition to adding custom Visor field types, you can also link fields from various connections. In fact, we try to make this as easy as possible, providing paths directly from the Connections modal, as well as from the Add Field menu.
Visor pre-defines field type mappings to linked fields from all your connections, so all you need to do is choose all the fields you want to link and we’ll handle the rest 🙂
