What is a Dashboard view?
Visor offers different ways to visualize the data you bring in from apps like Jira, manually put into Visor, or copy and paste from Excel. No matter how you get your data into Visor, our Dashboard view is one of many ways you can extract insights and share updates with collaborators, stakeholders, and clients.
Below this screenshot, we unpack the features in Visor's Dashboard view.
Chart and Report Options in Dashboard View
Let's go over the various ways you can share data and insights in your Dashboard. In another section in this article, we show you how to add formatting and filters to your Dashboard's charts and reports.

Bar and pie charts that you can format and filter:

Count & percent reports that extract insights from your data:
The count and percent reports come in handy if you need to:
- Assess how many Jira issues are in a sprint
- Know if one engineer or contributor has far too much work
- Determine how many Jira issues need to get finished before closing an epic
Our count reports allow you to extract insights from your data in a visual way:
In addition to counting, you can use filters to show percentages of data. We go over filtering in another section in this article.
-
Dashboard Aggregation
You can use Visor's Dashboard view to report on story point allocation across your team, understand how long projects and epics might take, and answer any other numerical-based questions you might have about your data.

Rich text and embedded content:
Often, when sharing Jira data with stakeholders, teams, or clients who aren’t looking at your Jira data often (or at all), it’s helpful to provide some additional context.
Creating Your Dashboard View
Whether you're a new user or already registered, setting up your Dashboard view is easy.
Here are the steps to create a Dashboard view:
- Register for a free account at Visor (no credit card needed)
- Import your data from apps like Jira or input your data manually
- Once your data is in Visor's Table view, click “Add New View” in the bottom left of your workbook
- Choose the “Dashboard” view
- Select the Dashboard reports, filters, and formatting you want for your Dashboard
Once you are in a fresh Dashboard view, you will see the choices below.
Applying Filters & Formatting to Your Dashboard
Make the reports in your Dashboard view legible with formatting. Add filters to give just the right slice of information for your stakeholders.
Formatting Your Dashboard Charts:
When creating a pie or bar chart in your Dashboard view, you are able to apply conditional formatting to fields you'd like to color-code. In the photo below, I chose the exact HEX coding based on issue type. Visor also offers auto-formatting, where we choose the colors for you.
Filtering Your Dashboard Charts:
Filtering allows you to create different views for different audiences; it also allows you to display your data just the way you want.
In the example below, you’ll see that I applied a filter to the Visor custom field, “Owner.” I could also apply filters to fields I brought in from apps like Jira and Salesforce.
As I change the filters I apply to a chart, the visuals change accordingly. See the example below:
Filtering Your Percent & Count Reports:
In addition to adding filters to charts, you can add filters to the percent reports as well.
With the percent report, you can filter both the numerator and denominator.
Below, you’ll see how it looks while creating a percent report with Jira data. Specifically, the report shows how many Jira issues a specific engineer has.
Below, you’ll see a Count report that has a filter showing the Jira issues engineering team members currently have:
